Recology is an industry leader in organics collection and processing. In 2018, we processed 1.6 billion pounds of organic material to produce 20 varieties of nutrient-rich compost and mulch.

We generated 40,900 megawatt-hours of renewable energy at our facilities from solar arrays and landfill gas-to-energy technology.

Recology offset greenhouse gas emissions by 1.7 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent through our recycling and composting activities.

We maintained 587 acres of natural space at our facilities, including species habitat, conservation easements, and open spaces.

Sustainable Fuels

Recology is committed to transitioning away from conventional fossil fuels. We estimate that 50% of our fleet was powered by renewable or alternative energy sources in 2018, and commit to achieve 90% by 2022.

Water Conservation

Through storm water capture and advanced water recycling systems, we conserved over 69 million gallons of fresh water at our facilities.

Through the Recology Volunteer Program, 600 employee owners donated nearly 2,000 hours of their time to improve local parks, schools, and community centers in 2018.
